Dear Friends of Grameen America,
As many of you know, Grameen America is about to complete its second year of successful service in the United States. By December 31, 2009, we will have opened four branches, loaned out over 3 million dollars, and reached more than 1,500 borrowers who have saved over $200,000. Our success to date is due, in large part, to our enthusiastic team of friends and volunteers. You have supported us as demand for microloans in the U.S. has far exceeded our expectations.
In order to end 2009 with a bang and to kick off 2010 with enthusiasm for growth in New York and across the country, we’re asking our Grameen America friends to host a Grameen America Day event in your respective city on December 9, 2009. This event can be anything from a small gathering of friends in your home to a larger party or reception at a venue of your choosing. The purpose of Grameen America Day is to grow our network, garner support, and build momentum around our national expansion in 2010.
Our goal is to run at least two events in a minimum of 6 different cities in the United States. We see this as a great opportunity to unify all of our supporters across the country for an end of the year celebration! If you decide to host an event, our New York City office will equip you with Grameen America Day posters and other Grameen America materials. We just ask that you take plenty of pictures!
We look forward to seeing you and working together towards a great event on December 9!
